Zweigelt The Seifried Family 2019

Winemakers Note: The Zweigelt is a red grape variety originating in Hermann’s homeland of Austria - and is a favourite at Seifried family gatherings. Seifried has just 11 rows, totaling less than one hectare of Zweigelt planted at our Brightwater Vineyard. Originally Seifried Nelson Zweigelt was released under the name ‘Sylvia’. This special name comes from Agnes Seifried’s late mother who very much enjoyed trips to Nelson to assist where needed - certainly a welcome change from life on a traditional Southland sheep farm. Tasting Note: Loaded in fruit intensity and combines with soft toasty oak and lovely savoury notes. The nose has succulent summer berry characters, opening to a broad mid-weight palate. The integrated spicy French oak complements the palate weight and gives a long finish.
