Ragnaud Sabourin Florilège, Grande Champagne 1er Cru, Cognac

This brandy is a beautiful mahogony thanks to the extended ageing process the liquid goes through, solely in red barrels. The nose is very floral, with notes of white flowers, quince, cherry-tree and pear tree. The palate has great persistence and length marked by notes of dried tobacco leaves. This Cognac was distilled from wines harvested on the very calcareous hillsides of Grande Champagne Premier Cru territories, planted for 60% in Ugni Blanc variety and 40% Folle blanche variety - a variety that was very widespread before the phylloxera crisis that destroyed almost the whole vineyard in the 1880's.
